Learning About Commercial HVAC Systems

Hello, my name is Jacob. I would like to talk about proper installation and repair of the HVAC system in your commercial building. Full scale HVAC systems for commercial buildings require ongoing maintenance and repairs to keep every floor and room at a comfortable temperature. These temperature control systems also control the air quality in the building by sending the airflow through filter elements. My site will cover all aspects of the upkeep needed for these systems. I will also talk about the benefits of keeping your air quality and temperatures at desirable levels. Thanks for coming to visit my website.

Repair A Stuck Register Lever On Your AC

Isaiah Chapman

If you have a central HVAC system in your home, then you should learn about the little issues that can go wrong with it that you can repair on your own; this way, you won't have to call an HVAC tech out for every little thing. However, it is important to keep in mind that you want to turn to the professionals anytime you feel something is beyond your capabilities. Otherwise, you can end up making matters worse. One thing that can go wrong with these systems that you may be able to tend to on your own is the registers can be a bit cranky and get stuck. If this should happen to one of your registers, try following these tips to fix the issue yourself:

Remove the register – To remove the register you want to unscrew the screws that are holding the register in place. Generally, you will need a Phillips screwdriver for this. Once you loosen all the screws, you should be able to pull the register out by pulling straight toward you with gentle force.

Clean the register – You want to clean the register by soaking it in a bucket of warm water and liquid dish soap. After it has soaked long enough to loosen up the gunk, then you can use a stiff nylon brush to scrub all the debris off. Rinse all the residue off of the register and towel dry it.

Oil the lever – Once you have taken care of the above steps, you want to take a bit of lubrication oil and apply a couple drops in the lever that controls the adjustment of the register blades. Let the oil set in place for a minute or two and then manually move it up and down until it starts to move easily. You don't want to use too much oil and you never want to use a spray lubricant that will get all over the register and cause you problems in the future with dust clinging to it.

Put the register back in place – Once you have everything nice and clean and you have taken care of the stubborn lever, you can gently push the register back in place, making sure it is sitting just how it is supposed to. Put the screws back in where they go and hand tighten them. You will now have a register you can once again easily control the direction of.
