Learning About Commercial HVAC Systems

Hello, my name is Jacob. I would like to talk about proper installation and repair of the HVAC system in your commercial building. Full scale HVAC systems for commercial buildings require ongoing maintenance and repairs to keep every floor and room at a comfortable temperature. These temperature control systems also control the air quality in the building by sending the airflow through filter elements. My site will cover all aspects of the upkeep needed for these systems. I will also talk about the benefits of keeping your air quality and temperatures at desirable levels. Thanks for coming to visit my website.

Summertime AC Care

Isaiah Chapman

Unless you have been using your HVAC unit's heater setting during the winter, then it is possible that your HVAC system has been completely ignored all year round. Now that summer is approaching, you will be wanting to turn that puppy on and drop the temperature in your overly-warm home. However, there are some things you should do first. These things include making sure you clean or replace the filter and having the system services. Read the information below for a clear understanding as to why both of these things are so important to the well-being of your unit:

Cleaning or replacing the filter – Since you haven't used the system in a while, the chances are good that much dust has collected on the filter. There is even the chance that you never cleaned it at the end of the last season once you stopped using it; this means there can be a bunch of build-up on it. Starting up your unit before cleaning this filter is going to cause a lot of that dust to get choked into the system; this will put much more work on the unit and spit out a lot of dust into your home. Some filters are disposable, while others you cut to fit in the space and pop them in. When they need cleaning, you take the hose to them and pop them back in after they have air dried. Don't use the system while the filter is not in place.

Having the HVAC system serviced – Before you use the air conditioning unit for the first time in the summer, get a tech out to service it for you. During the servicing process, there are a few things they will check and/or take care of. These things include:

  • Looking over the entire unit to make sure it is still in good working order.
  • Oiling up any parts that are in need of re-lubrication.
  • Removing and replacing any belts that are showing signs of wearing or excessive aging.
  • Checking the ductwork thoroughly to make sure you don't have any leaks throughout the system.
  • Repairing any leaks in the ductwork that they ended up finding during the inspection.
  • Adding Freon to the unit if they find that it is low on it.
  • Give the entire motor a look to see that everything is still tightened and functioning how it is supposed to.
  • Making sure that the area around the compressor is free of debris and that the cover is still intact and in good shape.
  • Checking the thermostat to ensure that it is working properly and not in need of a new fuse or battery.
