Learning About Commercial HVAC Systems

Hello, my name is Jacob. I would like to talk about proper installation and repair of the HVAC system in your commercial building. Full scale HVAC systems for commercial buildings require ongoing maintenance and repairs to keep every floor and room at a comfortable temperature. These temperature control systems also control the air quality in the building by sending the airflow through filter elements. My site will cover all aspects of the upkeep needed for these systems. I will also talk about the benefits of keeping your air quality and temperatures at desirable levels. Thanks for coming to visit my website.

4 Minor Problems That Can Stop Your AC Cold

Isaiah Chapman

Air conditioning problems that appear in the fall can often seem reasonable to put off. You won't need your air conditioning for months, so what's the harm? Unfortunately, putting off AC repairs can be harmful to your unit and cost you cool air in the coming months.

It can sometimes be hard to commit to air conditioning repairs if you are on a tight budget or don't think that repairs are time-sensitive. However, various minor and relatively cheap problems can stop your AC cold in its tracks. Here are just four that you might be facing as summer transitions to winter.

1. Bad Contactor Switches

Your thermostats use low-voltage signals to command the high-voltage compressor. The AC contactor switch is the magic box that makes this possible. If the contactor fails, your compressor won't be able to switch on. Fortunately, these components typically cost less than $100 and usually only require about an hour of labor to install.

2. Failed Capacitors

The capacitors in your air conditioner store energy to kick-start the compressor and then provide it with smooth, continuous power. A failed capacitor can stop your compressor from running or cause it to shut down shortly after it engages. Like the contactor switch, capacitors are relatively cheap items, and most contractors can replace one in very little time.

3. Faulty Thermostats

A bad thermostat can wreak havoc with an HVAC system and can also impact your furnace as you move into the winter. Issues with a thermostat can cause many symptoms, from short cycling to air conditioners that stubbornly refuse to turn on. While high-end smart units can be pricey, typical programmable thermostats are available for much less.

4. Wiring Shorts

Exposure to the elements or intrusions from pesky critters can potentially damage your air conditioner's wiring. Shorts or other wiring faults can trip your breaker, causing your whole system to shut down. This situation can be incredibly frustrating when it happens repeatedly. While it sometimes takes time to track down a wiring fault, most contractors can quickly repair them once located.

The prospect of an expensive HVAC repair is never fun, but waiting until you need your AC again can make things even worse. If your air conditioner isn't functioning correctly, the best course of action is always to contact a skilled contractor as soon as you can.
