Learning About Commercial HVAC Systems

Hello, my name is Jacob. I would like to talk about proper installation and repair of the HVAC system in your commercial building. Full scale HVAC systems for commercial buildings require ongoing maintenance and repairs to keep every floor and room at a comfortable temperature. These temperature control systems also control the air quality in the building by sending the airflow through filter elements. My site will cover all aspects of the upkeep needed for these systems. I will also talk about the benefits of keeping your air quality and temperatures at desirable levels. Thanks for coming to visit my website.

Three Signs That You Should Have Your House's Air Duct System Repaired Or A New One Installed

Isaiah Chapman

A duct system can last decades, but it can degrade sooner for various reasons. There are many signs that the air ducts in your home may need replacing or at least require extensive repairs. The following are a few reasons to call an HVAC company to look at your duct system.

The air coming through the vents has a mildew smell

This type of odor is often related to mold. In this case, you need to call for an appointment with an HVAC company immediately. The spores from mold can cause respiratory illness or aggravation to people who already have this type of medical problem. There are other causes besides mold that will affect the air quality in your home. If this is happening from all or most of your vents, you are likely to need a new air duct system. If it is only one or two vents in a room or two, then you may only need a repair instead of a replacement.

The airflow is not as strong as it used to be

This can be a sign that there are leaks in the duct system. Holes and cracks that have developed over time make it take more time to cool down your home in the summer and heat up your home in the wintertime. It is your attic that receives cool and hot air. Obviously, this creates higher utility bills. This is usually a sign of age, so you may need to have the duct system replaced. At the very least, you need to have your system professionally inspected to discover the extent of the leaks.

There are one or more strange sounds coming from the vents

There could be many reasons for this. Often, a small hole can make a high-pitched noise due to a makeshift repair from a handyman or a previous homeowner's do-it-yourself repair work that is coming apart. Even rodents have been known to chew away at air ducts, creating holes. Smaller air ducts can become clogged. An HVAC technician can find the source of the sound and repair it. Occasionally, because of the age of your duct system, it may be multiple areas responsible for the noise, and the entire system will need replacing.

A residential home's air duct system will not last as long as the house. At some point, it needs to be replaced. There are times, before a replacement, when you only have need of repairs. Signs to look for include odors coming from the vents, weak airflow, or strange noises. Your duct system should be inspected by a professional to find all the issues, then recommend repair or placement.
